The short version
A Pro license buys automatic updates, support, and a license key that switches the Pro features on for up to two sites. The code itself is GPL, like WordPress — that governs the software, not how many sites your key activates. You can buy it yearly as a subscription that renews automatically until you cancel, or as a three-year term with a single payment that you renew manually when it runs out. There is a 30-day refund on either. When a license ends nothing is deleted: your settings stay exactly as you left them and return if you renew, and your map carries on working with the free features.
1. Who these terms are with
These terms are between you and Knowco LLC ("we", "us"), a Florida limited liability company and the publisher of Knowco US Map. By using this website, installing our plugins or buying a Pro license, you agree to them.

Purchases of our Pro plugins are handled by Lemon Squeezy as merchant of record. They process the payment, act as the seller for tax purposes, and handle sales tax and VAT where it applies. Your payment card details go to them and never to us. Their terms apply to the purchase transaction itself.
2. The software license
Both Knowco US Map and Knowco US Map Pro are licensed under the GNU General Public License, version 2 or later, the same license as WordPress. That is the license that governs the code itself, and it grants you the right to use it, study it, modify it and redistribute it, on any number of sites, for as long as you like.
That is about the code, and it is not the same thing as your license key. The key is what switches the Pro features on, and it covers two sites — see section 3. The GPL is why you may keep, study and modify what you downloaded; the key is what you are actually buying.
Nothing in these terms takes away a right the GPL gives you. Where the two ever appear to conflict about the code, the GPL wins.
3. What a Pro license actually buys
Because the code is GPL, a Pro license is not a permission slip to run the software. What you are paying for is:
- Automatic updates delivered to your WordPress admin, including security fixes, for as long as the license is active.
- A license key that unlocks the Pro features on your sites.
- Support by email from the people who wrote it.
A Pro license may be activated on up to two sites. You can release an activation from the plugin's license screen and use it elsewhere; staging and development copies of a site you already licensed do not need their own seat.
4. Price, renewal and cancellation
Pro is sold on two terms, which differ only in how long the license lasts and what it costs. The features, the two-site limit and the support are the same either way.
- Yearly — $29.95 per year. A subscription. It renews automatically on the anniversary of your purchase, at the price shown at checkout, until you cancel.
- Three years — $69.95, paid once. Not a subscription. Nothing renews and there is nothing to cancel. The license stops being valid three years after purchase, and you are free to buy again or not.
If you are on the yearly plan you can cancel at any time from the link in your purchase receipt, or by signing in to the customer portal at knowcocompany.lemonsqueezy.com/billing with the email you bought with — that is also where you update a payment card or download a receipt. Canceling stops future charges. Whichever term you are on, when the license stops being valid Pro features switch off — see section 6 for exactly what that means.
The plugin's license screen always shows the date your license runs to.
If we change the price, existing subscriptions keep their current price until we tell you otherwise by email, with at least 30 days' notice before a renewal. A three-year license already paid for is not affected by a later price change.
5. Refunds
30 days, no argument. If Pro is not what you needed, email support@knowco.co within 30 days of your purchase and we will refund it in full. You do not have to justify it, though telling us what went wrong helps us fix it.
Renewals are refundable on the same terms within 30 days of the renewal charge.
6. What happens when a license ends
This matters enough to be explicit, because plenty of plugins get it wrong:
- Nothing is deleted. Every Pro setting stays in your database exactly as you left it, and returns as configured if you renew.
- Maps you already created keep working. They are never disabled or removed, whatever the plan allows.
- Pro features stop taking effect and the map falls back to what the free plugin does. Automatic updates for the add-on stop.
- The code stays yours under the GPL. A license ending does not oblige you to uninstall anything.
7. Payment processing
Purchases are handled by Lemon Squeezy as merchant of record. They process the payment, act as the seller for tax purposes, and handle sales tax and VAT where it applies. Your payment card details go to them and never to us. Their terms apply to the transaction itself. Your orders, receipts and subscription live in their customer portal at knowcocompany.lemonsqueezy.com/billing.
8. Acceptable use
The GPL is generous and we intend to keep it that way. There are only two things we ask that these terms enforce:
- Do not share or resell your license key. The key is an access credential for our update service, not part of the GPL'd code, and we may deactivate a key that is being distributed.
- Do not use our update or license servers in a way designed to disrupt them, or misrepresent your software as ours.
9. Support
Support is by email, in English, on a best-effort basis during business days. It covers the plugins working as documented. It does not cover custom development, fixing unrelated problems on your site, or debugging conflicts caused by other plugins or themes — though we will usually tell you what we can see.
10. Warranty
The software is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. This is the standard GPL position and it is meant plainly: we test carefully, but we cannot promise the software is free of defects or suitable for your particular use.
You are responsible for keeping backups of your site before installing or updating any plugin, ours included.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost profits, lost revenue or lost data, arising out of your use of the software or this website.
Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.
Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, in which case they simply do not apply to you.
12. Changes to these terms
If these terms and conditions change, we will update the date at the top of the page.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be resolved through binding arbitration under the rules of the American Arbitration Association, with arbitration conducted in Florida.
Note also that the purchase itself runs through Lemon Squeezy as merchant of record (section 7). Their terms govern the payment transaction; these terms govern the software license, the updates and the support.
