The short version
This website sets no cookies and carries no third-party trackers. The free plugin makes no external requests whatsoever — it cannot send us anything, because it never contacts us. The Pro add-on contacts us for two things only: checking your license and checking for updates. Traffic data the plugin records lives in your own WordPress database and we never receive a copy. We count visits to this website with analytics we host ourselves, which sets no cookie and identifies nobody.
1. This website
usmap.knowco.co is static HTML. It sets no cookies, runs no advertising, and carries no third-party trackers. Nothing here follows you to another website, and there is nothing to consent to, which is why you were not asked.
We do count visits, using analytics software we run on our own server. It sets no cookie and records nothing that identifies you — section 6 sets out exactly what it collects.
Our web server keeps ordinary access logs: your IP address, the time, the page requested, and the browser's user-agent string. Query strings are deliberately stripped before anything is written, so a license key sent by an older plugin version is never recorded. Logs are used for security and diagnosing faults, and are rotated on a short cycle.
2. The free plugin
Knowco US Map (the free plugin) makes no external requests at all. It contains no licensing code, contacts no server, and transmits nothing anywhere. We have no way of knowing you installed it, and no data about your site or its visitors reaches us.
3. The Pro add-on
Knowco US Map Pro contacts two services, and only these:

Both are sent in the body of the request rather than the URL, so they are not written into server logs along the way. We use this to confirm a license is valid and to decide whether an update should be offered. We do not build a profile from it, and we do not share it.
If your license lapses, the add-on stops contacting us for downloads but keeps every setting you saved. Deleting the add-on removes your license key from your database.
4. Buying a subscription
Payments are handled by Lemon Squeezy, which acts as the merchant of record. You enter your payment details on their systems, not ours. We never see or store payment card numbers. Lemon Squeezy provides us with your email address, the license key, and the status of the subscription, so that we can support you and validate the license.
Lemon Squeezy processes your data under its own privacy policy, which governs the checkout itself.
5. Data the plugin records on your site
Two Pro features record information in your WordPress database. This is your data, on your server. It is never transmitted to us and we have no access to it.
Click analytics
Counts how many times each state has been clicked, per map. It stores nothing but numbers — no addresses, no identifiers, nothing about individual visitors.
Embed traffic
If you let other websites embed your map, each view and click is recorded so you can see which site sent it. Per event that is: the referral ID you handed out, whether it was a view or a click, which map and state, the referring page, the browser's user-agent, and a timestamp.
Visitor IP addresses are not stored. Each address is put through a one-way hash together with a secret unique to your site, and only that result is kept. It is enough to count unique visitors and not enough to recover the address or match it against any other site — including ours.
Records older than 400 days are deleted automatically, and the table is capped so it cannot grow without limit. You can clear it at any time, and deleting the add-on removes the table entirely.
Because this data sits on your site, you are its controller. If your visitors are covered by the GDPR, the UK GDPR, the CCPA or similar rules, your own privacy notice should mention that you record embed traffic in the terms above.
6. Counting visits to this website
We use Umami, which we host ourselves at analytics.knowco.co — our own server, not a service. No analytics company is involved and the data never leaves our infrastructure. We could not sell or share it if we wanted to, because nobody else has it.
A page view records the address and title of the page, the page that referred you, your browser's language, and your screen size. We also record a short list of named events, so we can tell which parts of the site are useful — a pricing button clicked, a plugin downloaded, a state clicked on a demo map. Those record what was clicked, not who clicked it.
No cookie is set and nothing is stored on your device, so there is no identifier that can follow you between sites or between visits. Our analytics server sees your IP address when your browser requests a page, exactly as any web server does; it uses it to work out a country and to avoid counting one visit twice, and does not keep it.
If your browser sends a "Do Not Track" signal, we honor it and record nothing at all.
7. What we never do
- Sell, rent, or trade personal data in our normal course of operating, with the exception that if we sell our plugin business, or our company, Knowco LLC, or the assets of Knowco LLC to another company, organization or entity, your data will be transferred to them as part of that sale.
- Run advertising, retargeting or cross-site tracking.
- Collect anything from the free plugin — it makes no requests to collect through.
- Read, receive or store the analytics or embed data held on your site.
- Store payment card details.
8. Keeping data, and getting rid of it
We keep license and subscription records for as long as the subscription is active and afterwards for as long as tax and accounting rules require. Support emails are kept so that a later conversation makes sense. Server logs are short-lived. The analytics counts described in section 6 carry nothing that identifies a person, so there is no record in them to look up, correct or delete.
You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by emailing legal@knowco.co. We will respond within 30 days. Deleting your data may end an active subscription, since the license key is the record.
9. Children
This is a developer tool sold to site owners. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect anything from them.
10. Changes
If this policy changes we will update the date at the top of the page.
11. Who we are, and how to reach us
The controller of any personal data described here is Knowco LLC, a Florida limited liability company.
